Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data Treq ("Treq", "we", "us") handles when you use treq.dev, a Treq account, or a hosted Treq service. The Terms of Service define the hosted services.

Summary

  • The desktop app keeps your code and data on your machine and sends no telemetry.
  • An account stores your email, name, and avatar. Paid plans add billing records. Stripe holds your card details. We never see them.
  • Hosted features only touch the GitHub, Linear, and workspace data they need to work.
  • We do not sell personal data, show ads, or train models on your content.

The Desktop App

The desktop app and CLI run locally. Repositories, workspaces, review comments, terminal sessions, and settings stay on your computer. The app sends no feature usage, crash reports, or performance metrics. Git and Linear traffic goes directly from your machine to those hosts.

The app contacts Treq's servers only after you sign in, and only to check your plan or use a hosted feature. Security and Privacy has the technical details.

How We Use Data

  • Run the hosted services. Sign you in, decide which features your plan includes, merge queued pull requests, proxy Linear requests, and provision and connect cloud workspaces.
  • Bill you. Create checkout sessions, keep subscription state in sync with Stripe, and send receipts through Stripe.
  • Keep the service secure. Detect abuse, enforce resource limits, and investigate incidents.
  • Communicate. Send account, billing, security, and policy notices. We send product news only if you opt in.
  • Improve Treq. Count aggregate usage, such as signups and active subscriptions. These counts contain no personal data.

Where the GDPR or a similar law applies, our legal bases are performing our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and securing the service, legal obligations such as tax records, and your consent for website analytics.
