Terms of Service

Last updated: 12 October 2026

1. Agreement to Terms

These terms are a binding agreement between you and Treq ("Treq", "we", "us"). They cover treq.dev, the Treq desktop app and CLI, and the hosted services described below. Together they are the "Services".

By creating an account, buying a plan, or using the Services, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Services. If you accept them for an organization, you confirm that you can bind that organization.

Treq has two parts:

  • The desktop app and CLI are open source. See Open Source.
  • The hosted services run on Treq's servers: accounts, 3rd party integrations, hosted services, managed cloud workspaces, mobile access to those workspaces, and the web dashboard. These terms govern the hosted services.

Our Privacy Policy explains what data the Services handle.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Services.

3. Your Account

  • You sign in with Google, GitHub, or an email and password.
  • Keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
  • Give accurate information and keep it current, including your email address. We send billing and security notices to it.
  • Tell us promptly about any unauthorized access to your account.
  • One person per account. Do not share credentials with anyone else.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. See Termination.

4. Permitted Use

Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the hosted services for your personal or internal business purposes, within the limits of your plan.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  • break the law or infringe anyone's rights, including intellectual property rights;
  • access other users' data, or probe, bypass, or overload Treq's security, rate limits, or entitlement checks;
  • disrupt the Services, or run denial-of-service, scanning, or other attacks from them;
  • mine cryptocurrency, send spam, or host malware, phishing pages, or content that exploits children;
  • access the hosted services through automated means other than the Treq app, CLI, and documented interfaces, without our written consent;
  • resell, sublicense, or share access to the hosted services outside your plan.

Testing the security of the open-source code on your own machine is welcome. Report vulnerabilities in the hosted services through GitHub Security Advisories.

6. Intellectual Property

  • Ours. Treq owns the hosted services, the Treq name and logo, and the treq.dev site content, except where an open source license says otherwise.
  • Yours. Your code, repositories, issues, and files stay yours. We claim no ownership of your projects or anything you or your agents create with Treq.
  • License to run the service. You give Treq permission to host, copy, transmit, and process your content only as needed to run the hosted services for you. For example, the merge queue reads pull request state to merge it, and a cloud workspace stores your checkout on its disk.
  • We do not use your content to train machine learning models.
  • You confirm you have the rights to the content you put into the hosted services.

7. Open Source

The Treq desktop app, CLI, and website are open source under the Apache License 2.0. The Services also include third-party open source components under their own licenses. Nothing in these terms restricts or overrides the rights those licenses grant you.

8. Third-Party Services

The Services connect to third parties such as GitHub, Linear, and the AI coding agents and model providers you choose. Their own terms and privacy policies govern your use of them. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices.

You are responsible for the actions you or your agents take through those connections, such as merging a pull request, pushing code, or editing an issue.

9. Payment and Subscriptions

PlanPriceWhat it includes
FreeUS$0The desktop app and CLI, GitHub through your local gh CLI, and Linear through your personal API key.
ProUS$15 per user per monthThe hosted services for one user.
TeamUS$199 per month for up to 5 members, plus US$8 per month for each additional memberPro for every member of one organization.
  • Payment. Stripe processes all payments. You agree to pay the fees shown when you buy. Plans bill monthly in advance in US dollars. Prices exclude taxes, which we add where the law requires.
  • Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel.
  • Pro trial. A new Pro subscription includes a 14-day free trial. Each customer gets one trial. A card is required to start it. The first charge happens when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. Team has no trial.
  • Cancellation. Cancel at any time from the Subscription tab of the dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Paid features stay on until then.
  • Refunds. Fees are not refundable, including for partial months, except where the law requires otherwise.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe retries it and your paid features stay on while it does. If the retries fail, the subscription ends and the paid features stop.
  • Price changes. We give at least 30 days' notice by email before a price change takes effect on an existing subscription. The new price applies from your next billing period after the notice ends. You can cancel before then.

10. Organizations and Team

  • The person who creates an organization becomes its owner. Owners buy Team, invite and remove members, and manage billing.
  • Team bills one seat per member. Adding or removing a member changes the seat count, and Stripe prorates the difference on the next invoice. Pending invites are not billed.
  • A member's Pro access through Team ends as soon as they leave or are removed. A member's own Pro subscription is separate and is unaffected.
  • An organization owns the GitHub App installations attached to it. Deleting an organization detaches them.
  • Deleting an account or an organization does not cancel its subscription. Cancel it from the dashboard first.

11. Cloud Workspaces

  • A managed cloud workspace is a virtual machine that Treq provisions for you on our infrastructure provider. You control what runs on it.
  • When your paid plan ends, the workspace stops and cannot be woken. We keep its disk for 7 days, then delete it. Resubscribing within 7 days restores access.
  • We apply resource limits to cloud workspaces. We tell you about a limit when you reach it.
  • Back up anything you need. Cloud workspaces are not a backup service.

12. Preview Features

Features labeled preview, alpha, or beta are incomplete. They can change or be removed without notice and may lose data. Do not rely on them for critical work.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Code that you or your agents produce with Treq is your responsibility to review before you rely on it.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • Treq is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or use.
  • Treq's total liability for any claim about the Services is limited to the fees you paid Treq in the 12 months before the claim. If you paid nothing, that limit is zero.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

15. Indemnification

You will defend and indemnify Treq against third-party claims, and the resulting losses and reasonable legal fees, that arise from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the Services, including actions your agents take on your behalf.

16. Termination

  • By you. Stop using the Services at any time. To delete your account, email us at the address under Contact. Cancel any subscription first.
  • By us. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other users or the Services at risk, or that the law requires us to close. Where we can, we tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem and export your data.
  • Discontinued services. If we discontinue a paid hosted service, we give at least 30 days' notice and refund any prepaid fees for the period after it stops.
  • Sections 6, 13, 14, 15, 17, and 19 survive termination.

17. Governing Law and Disputes

The laws of Singapore govern these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before starting a formal dispute, contact us and try to resolve it in good faith for at least 30 days. If that fails, the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

18. Changes to These Terms

We can update these terms. For a material change, we email account holders at least 30 days before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. If you keep using the Services after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms.

19. General

  • Severability. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, that part is limited to the minimum extent necessary and the rest stays in effect.
  • Entire agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Treq about the Services. They replace any earlier agreement on the same subject.
  • No waiver. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it.
  • Assignment. You cannot transfer these terms without our consent. We can transfer them as part of a merger or sale of Treq.

20. Contact

Email [email protected] about these terms.
